Physicists have to feel frustrated sometimes. Like they’re not making much progress. Two steps forward, seventeen back.

That whole "How did the universe begin?" Physicists have tried, but, well, there’s debate and there are problems. To put it kindly.

There’s more matter than antimatter. Rather a big one right there. Uh-oh, we should have more deuterium somewhere. Ummm... let’s invent something called dark matter.

"Dark matter"? Someone must’ve just finally had enough one night around 1am, decided they really needed to get to bed and out of sheer frustration they typed "Dark matter, just call it dark matter!!!" and went to bed, figuring it’d all look better in the morning.

Wait, we’re missing some mass density as well. Oh dear. Better throw in something to explain that. We already have dark matter, what else can we call it? Think, think, think... ah ha, E=MC squared, mass is energy, let’s call it dark ENERGY!

Brilliant.

Hey guys, how about you just go with Occam’s Razor and admit that the simplest explanation is usually the best? God spoke and BANG!

There. Much easier. Where’s my Nobel Prize in Physics?
