There are two types of people in the world: those who divide the world into two types of people and those who do not.

Every group divides the world a little differently. Sociologists generally divide the world into people who have shot a man in Reno just to watch him die and those who have not. (I fall into the latter category by a technicality, since I shot a man in Reno just to watch him cry.)

Historians divide the world into people who would kill Hitler if they were able to travel through time and those who would simply punch him in the nose.

Solipsists divide the world into themselves and everybody else (who, being just figments of their own imagination, are also themselves).

Logicians divide the world into people who cut the hair of everyone who does not cut their own hair and everybody else; which is one of the reasons they don't get invited to the good parties.

Programmers are no different, as much as their crudely drawn webcomics would beg to differ.

The joke relies on the fact that binary "10" looks the same as decimal "10". As a matter of fact, there are an infinite number of jokes that take the same form, since "10" is a legal number in every number base except for the wildly unpopular base-1. As mathematicians like to say, the humor follows by induction.
