Captain America T-Shirts

Captain America is a character that's been around for over 70 years now. His first appearance was during World War 2 in March 1941. Captain America #1 was published by Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics). This plants his origin and first appearance firmly in the Golden Age, and makes it a very challenging addition to any serious comic book collection.

Millions of comic books were pulped during WW2 so their paper could be recycled! This, along with the low quality of the original paper, means Golden Age comic books are extremely rare. Captain America is no exception. Interestingly, though the cover is dated March 1941, the comic book first went on sale in December 1940.

As well as selling a million copies per month during WW2, Captain America began appearing in the All Winners comics.
