Cephalopods are freaky and mysterious creatures that may just be a whole lot smarter than they're letting on. I don't trust 'em.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea taught us to respect the power and ferocity of the giant squid and Octopussy had nothing to do with the Octopus and taught us that Roger Moore had overstayed his welcome as James Bond.

Sushi takes many forms, but is always built on sticky short-grain rice, seasoned with vinegar. The rice is combined with any number of possible ingredients, but raw seafood is the most well-known. What do cephalopods have to do with sushi, you may ask? Well, baby octopus is a popular sushi ingredient.

So, on the one hand we have millions of huge freaky creatures with big brains, sharp beaks and a ring of nasty-looking teeth lurking in the oceans. Oceans that make up two thirds of the Earth's surface, need I remind you. On the other hand we have us, eating their babies.

Does anybody else see a problem with this? I don't know about you, but I don't want to be woken by a gang of vengeful octopi with their suckered tentacles wrapped around my neck, while a giant squid sits in the garden, pulling up all of my tomato plants.
