Dave was a lecturer at the university downtown. Mathematics was his game. Pretty good at it too. But there was something about Dave; a quirk, if you will.

His friends noted Dave was always hungry after lunch. Didn’t matter how much he ate, he always had something for dessert. And it always happened at the same time: 3.14 in the afternoon. Just before he had to depart for his next class.

So, every afternoon, there he was in the university cafeteria, quickly eating his dessert before he had to go to his next class.

The cafeteria staff knew this quirk and they knew, too, how Dave would also show up at exactly the same time: 3.14 in the afternoon.

Finally, someone pointed this out to him and asked a fairly reasonable question. "Dude... what gives?"

Dave responded, "Well, I’m a mathematics professor, right? And so, as I’m watching the clock, making sure I leave in time for my next lecture, I see the time, 3.14, and I inevitably think the same thing.

"3.14, Mmm, pi..."
