It's a Dungeons and Dragons application plug-in for FaceBook. Based on the D20 system, your character 'battles' monsters and gathers gold and treasure on the way to level 11. Once there, he or she retires and begins the whole thing again.
If you think that sounds pointless, you're absolutely right. That doesn't stop hundreds of thousands of peeps logging onto FaceBook each and every day to see if their virtual characters are doing well against the latest menace.
