Here’s the thing. If someone feels the need to advertise their "1337-ness", well, you can understand that. It’s natural. If you’re young and inexperienced, that is.
Some people have, well, complexes. Inferiority complexes. It’s touching, in a way. Watching the young and brash up and comers, advertising themselves, engaging in a forlorn kind of braggadocio.
Stupid buggers.
For crying out loud, we’re geeks! We pride ourselves on our great mental acumen, our solid intellect, our ability to quickly grasp new and complex concepts. And this is how we advertise ourselves? Showing off that we can’t spell?
Oh, well, that’s brilliant, isn’t it.
No, true hackers let their work speak for them. If you’re good, you know it and those around you will see by the quality of your work.
True hackers know arcane syntaxes. You have to, there’s no room for error when you’re pushing the very limits of your hardware. True hackers tolerate C++ but use assembly if they really want to push limits.
Look... true hackers know LEX and YACC and how to parse a language. You think someone who can’t handle their own language can be trusted to code properly in another one?
No.
True hackers know how to spell.
