Vintage to modern Wonder Woman comics on T-Shirts!

Among the longest-running of superhero comic books, Wonder Woman has been wowing generations of impressionable girls (and boys!) since the early 1940s.

She made her first appearance in the now unaffordable All Star Comics #8 marked a new era for comic book heroes, in which women were empowered. This at a time when the average girl could look forward to not much more than a life of 'domestic bliss' after college, if they went at all. Sensation Comics #1 quickly followed, and it was not long before Wonder Woman #1 marked the start of a run that has lasted 70 years.

World War 2 would change a lot of the old stereotypes, as millions of women went to work during the war effort. The effects would ripple through the population over the next couple of decades and beyond, eventually morphing womens' roles to the near-equality of today's society.

Wonder Woman represented a sassy, can-do attitude, sisters doing it for themselves, that must have been really radical in the 1940s.
